Dead Yard

The yard is fenced in, the night is long, and the dead keep coming.

Dead Yard is a top-down zombie wave survival shooter for your browser. Move with WASD, aim with the mouse and hold the left button to fire. Every wave brings more zombies, new kinds of undead and a bigger test of your nerves.

You start with only a pistol that never runs dry. Weapons and medkits drop from the dead and appear around the yard at the start of each wave: grab a submachine gun for crowds, a shotgun for close quarters or a sniper rifle that pierces straight through a line of zombies. Pick up the same gun twice for more ammo.

Between waves, choose one of three random upgrades: stronger bullets, faster fire, extra health, quicker feet, a shorter dash cooldown, bigger ammo pickups, a pickup magnet, piercing rounds or health back for every few kills. Chain kills to build a combo multiplier up to x5 and chase your best score. Take a hit and the combo breaks.

Know your enemy. Walkers shamble in packs, runners sprint, purple spitters keep their distance and hurl acid, yellow bloaters explode when they die (or when they reach you) and brutes soak up an enormous amount of lead. Every fifth wave the huge Zombie King arrives. Watch for the red warning line before it charges, and don’t get buried when it calls its minions.

Dash with Space or Shift to slip through the horde with a moment of invulnerability. Your best score and best wave are saved in your browser.

Play directly in your browser with keyboard and mouse: WASD to move, mouse to aim and shoot, Space/Shift to dash, 1-4 / mouse wheel / Q-E to switch weapons, Esc to pause.

Includes background music, night ambience and sound effects, with an optional mute button.
